Richard Towle Will

Shown below is a certified copy of the Towle Will. Note that it is in three parts and that is because we received it in an enlarged condition and printed on three 11 by 17 inch pages. This was done in an effort to read the will in its entirety and without any form of speculation. We came to the same conclusion of Dr. R.B. Braswell and Irene Braswell that it was severely smudged in some areas and those areas were indeed illegible! It is from the smudged portion that Carey (Brazil) Bracewell has drawn his conclusion that Susannah had an ongoing affair with Towle. Please notice that on page 2, second line down, far right, you can make out the name Susannah, but to the left of line 3, the last name does not appear to be Braswell. Now notice to the far right of line three and you can see that the person writing the will certainly had no problem spelling "Braswell."

The will is displayed for each person reading it to draw his/her own conclusions. It may take some time to make out a few words, but it is time will invested. Another point to consider is that the symbol thorn, looks something like a Y and is a part of Archaic English and carries the pronounciation "th" hence Ye is "the."
