Treasured
keepsakes and photographic memories are beautifully displayed when
copied onto videotape with titles and appropriate music. This is
another fun area. Remember when you were back in high school?
Remember when just about everybody had a camera and took pictures?
Remember your last class reunion? If you answered yes to any of these
questions, I have exciting news for you. You can now share these
memories with friends from the past by putting them onto videotape.
In
your scrap book you may find many old friends with whom you have
stayed in touch. Wouldn't it be a fun project to get together with
some of them and have all your pictures copied onto videotape? Has
anybody got a tape of the band playing the school song? Let's add
that too. Get the idea?
In
the pictures above
are the Goldthwaite Eagles football team and the graduating class of
1943. Elmer Gray, right, was on the team, fifth from the right, and
in that
class of '43. Below is a picture of him some 56 years later. Posed
with him, photo at right, is his main confidant, Ruth
("Sis.)" She and her brother are seen at the left when they
were very young indeed. Although Goldthwaite is still there and is
still the same small town, Ruth and Elmer are not, they have changed
somewhat over the years. But what stories they can tell. Ruth is seen
with her husband, Harold in the lower right photo. They now live in
the beautiful mountains of Northern California.
A
scrap book is not limited just to school. I personally have over
five hundred color slides of the Korean War Era in which I was just a
young lad in uniform and so far away from home. I remember listening
in on my battery eating Zenith Transoceanic Radio to Moscow Molly and
her version of the news of the day. Every now and then she would
mention someone on the base by name and more often than not, where he
was from. Now that does get your attention.
Every
time I look at those slides I get a strange, different type of
nostalgia. Yes, they have made a wonderful album. Hopefully my wife
and I will be able to make it to the Y2K reunion being held on the
tiny base, RAF Chicksands, that was so effective during the Cold War.
So
you may gather from this that scrap books are not scrap but a
another page in the passing of our time on this earth! By having your
photographic record on videotape, your family will not be subject to
the interpretations of the revisionists of history for you will have
left them a piece of true history. What a wonderful gift! Go
